Is my most favorite band ever in concert! BRAND NEW! and I know all 2 of you who read my blog are probably sick of lyrics but I need you all to understand and appreciate my love/obsession with them. After tomorrow it will be lyric free...for awhile.

so here is my pick of #2 fave songs (it's a tie I couldn't decide)

Order your daughters to ignore me, think that will sort me
and sweep me under the rug
And a beating with a book everyone
the book tells you to love
There is an ember in the heart of the kiln
And its burning hot with love
Burning out my sins until there's nothing but dust
holding me with care into your cigarette
Cause the God I believe in never worked on a campaign trail
--"The Archers Bows are Broken," Brand New

and now probably my actual 2nd fave...

Was losing all my friends.
Was losing them to drinking and to driving.
Was losing all my friends, but I got them back.
I am on the mend.
At least now I can say that I am trying.
And I hope you will forget things I still lack.
--"Sowing Season," Brand New

Jesse Lacey is a lyrical genius. Seriously. Every single one of their songs has a deeper meaning. Their latest album "Daisy" has probably some of their weirdest lyrics ever but they are genius. "The Devil and God are Raging Inside me" is definitely their BEST album. And I challenge all 2 of you to listen to the song "Sowing Season" the first time I listened to it I was like "sure this is good" and then this one part comes in...and BAM. I was hooked.

So... I know I just said I have zero time in my post yesterday...But my teacher never uploaded the assignment she said she was going to. Either that or I am completely blind it is no where. I swear. My husband is gone basketball-ing with his amigos and I here I sit alone and bored and should probably read a text book but I decided to upload pictures that have been on my camera since Thanksgiving instead...en-JOY!

After the Thanksgiving 5k we ran and Troy's patchy handle bar mustache he grew just for race

The 'stache after he shaved the handle bars off. He sported it about 10 minutes before it creeped me out.

Our teeny little christmas tree all lit up!

He's going to kill me for posting this... let's not tell him :)

After Mara and Jae's wedding. I forgot my camera so this is the extent of the pictures from their wedding event!

Brand New is in TWO DAYSSS!!!

lyrics from one of my top 3 fave songs...

I'm slowly bringing you down from the Heavenly gates
Now I'm drowning in the flood I made
Well explain myself to me on the other side
I'll watch from Heaven when I die

School started 2 weeks ago and I've been crazy busy! I got an internship at Lifeline (a residential treatment center for teens... for those who don't know). I started my first day yesterday! It was very interesting. All I do for now is just listen and observe. Probably in about a month I'll be able to do more than that! Not a lot more...but some! So 2 jobs + internship+ full time school = zero time. So... friends I am sorry if I never have time for you....I have no time for myself. I love you all. And one of my oldest and dearest friends Rebekah Anne Larsen came home from her mission today. I am so excited!!!! I'VE MISSED YOU DEAR! And I have nothing really more to say... oh.

That's all for today.
I got stuff to do. Like sleep. more thing. BRAND NEW ON FRIDAY!!!!

Well if we take all these things
and we bury them fast
And we'll pray that they turn into seeds,
to roots and then grass
It'd be all right, it's all right,
it'd be easier that way
Or if the sky opened up and started pouring rain
Like he knew it was time
to start things over again
It'd be all right, it's all right,
it'd be easier that way

Mazda 3 vs. Semi

I have decided that #1 I am incredibly lame. Today, I narrowly escaped death or at least some serious bodily harm and the very first thing I do when I get home I think..."I should blog it!" So out of complete lame-ness here is my story...

First off, I would really like to thank whomever is watching over me. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

I'm on my way home from school (u of u) driving on the freeway. I'm just about home. For those of you who live in bountiful I was fast approaching the 2600 South exit. About a half mile before the exit is where I-215 merges with I-15. You always have to be careful when trying to get in the exit lane at that point because the merging traffic lane ends so you have to watch for cars who are trying to merge on the freeway while you are trying to get off the freeway. I was coming to this point in the freeway when I noticed a semi about to begin merging it wasn't going very fast and was driving cautiously so as not to run anyone over (just as a big huge semi driver should drive!) I think that I can easily get around this truck so he can get in my lane and I can get in his. I being the good driver that I am check my blind spot (thank my lucky stars) when I see ANOTHER semi flying around the first semi like a bat out of hell. I put on my blinker thinking that this crazy driving semi will see me and think "Perfect! I'll let this car over and then I can get into the lane I need to."

Super glad I made no assuming with crazy bat out of hell semi.

He proceeds to try and BEAT the other semi before the lane merges. While this is happening another car decides to get behind me and starts riding my butt and there is a big truck to my left. I AM TRAPPED. To the right of me are two semi trucks in the SAME lane. The first cautious semi is now in the emergency pull off lane and the crazy semi is now signaling that he wants to get in the left lane and I'm still RIGHT next to him. Crazy semi starts coming in to my lane. Because I am trapped I can't quickly get in the lane next to me because of the truck and I know that I can't brake too quickly because of the jerk-off riding my tail.

All I can think of is, "What do I do? What do I do?"

Some how I manage to stay completely calm and brake slightly and bring my car as close to the truck on my left as possible. The bat out of hell semi narrowly misses my car by literally inches. The cautious semi gets back on to the actual road and I get off my exit. I was half way tempted to chase the semi down and find out his license plate and company and complain but he was going to fast I decided it wasn't safe since he was weaving in and out of traffic. The part that makes me the most upset about this whole avoided accident is that this semi-truck wasn't a normal cargo semi truck but it was a GAS TANKER.

I'm really grateful that I was able to remain calm and think clearly. This whole thing happen in probably 30 seconds. And I'm really grateful that there was no accident and no one was hurt and/or killed.

So I live to blog another day. Thank goodness.

so in love....

This is my nephew Jackson aka Jack. (it's Troy's sisters son, so no his name is not Jackson Jackson everyone asks me that!) He just turned 4 and is completely adorable. He's a boys boy and loves to fight and wrestle anyone from his 1 year old sister to his grandma. He calls me Lessie and always gives me big hugs when we come to visit. He also instructs me on the proper way to play Legos and when playing phase 10 dice you MUST say "Oh snap!" and pound the table after every roll.

Yesterday he was being particularly funny without even trying. He hands me my phone and says, "Lessie take a picture of me like this" He backs up puts on his most serious face...

and poses like this! When we asked what he was doing he said, "Standing" and when we asked him why Jack replied, "because it's awesome!"

Here's to you Jack Attack!

2010 goals

Troy and I decided it would be good to have goals for this year. So while we were in the car on our way to Layton Hills Mall on Saturday we came up with these...

Leslie & Troy's 10 goals for 2010

1. Get sealed
2. Build Troy's bike
3. Be healthier (in general)
4. One fruit/vegetable with EVERY meal.
5. Run a 5k and 10k
6. Make and stick to budgets
7. Beat Mario Galaxy
8. Get my mom married
9. Be full tithe payers
10. Find Leslie a big girl job

These goals are stuck up on the fridge for all to see. And to remind us...

One of my goals is also to graduate. But that would make 11 goals and 10 goals for 2010 just sounded better...

25 more days until the Brand New concert!...

If looks could really kill,
then my profession would be staring.
Please know we do this cause we care
and not for the thrill.
Collect calls to home
to tell them that I realize
that everyone who lives will someday die
and die alone.
